Neapolitan singer Mario Merola, 72, dies

AP - Mario Merola, whose dramatic renditions of traditional songs from his native Naples made him wildly popular with Neapolitans for decades, has died in a hospital near the city, officials said. He was 72. Hospital officials said Merola died after suffering a series of heart attacks Sunday.
